Welcome to Whitehill

Welcome to Whitehill Junior School’s ‘transition section’ of the school website. We hope you will find this tab, plus others in this section, useful in getting to know Whitehill as you join in Year 3 or at any point during your education.

You will find information on a whole range of topics in relation to starting at (or back at) Whitehill including staff, uniform, the school and the school day. There will also be links to other sections on the school website which we believe will make your start with us as smooth as possible. Nothing replaces a face to face conversation but these pages will support this dialogue and will be available for you to refer back to in the future.

We have tried to think of everything but if you feel something really useful is missing, please do let me know using the form at the bottom of this page.

Following on the from the enforced changes to the way we facilitated transition in 2020, we have once again replaced the traditional whole cohort talk in July with a series of more intimate tours for pupils and parents. Here is an additional  short video from Mr Steve Mills, Headteacher, welcoming you to the school and outlining the purpose of this new section of the school website.

As he points out and as is now happening, it is something we will develop and grow over time, even after the current restrictions are over and ‘normality’ is returned.

This video, recorded by Mr Lord, who was one of our Year 3 teachers over the last four years and knows the year group well, goes through some of the key information for September.

We want all our pupils to feel relaxed and happy when they join and this short film explains how the start of the academic year will work and also some of the key differences between Whitehill and Highbury.
